Evan Garfinkel sells out the
Green Mill
This is the Green Mill, Chicago, Illinois, where the program for Evan was held on Saturday, January 20th, 2007.
The place was bursting at the seams with all the friends and family that made the trip from all over this country and from overseas. It was truly an outpouring of love for a man that always put smiles on our faces, laughter in our lives and love in our hearts.
The program was amazingly orchestrated to showcase some meaningful moments in Evan's life including, but not limited to, his college life at New College, his drumming days with Vini and the Demons, his stint as Joey's best man at the wedding and his shot at fame in "Pizza: the movie".
Special Thanks:
Evan's very good friend, Rabbi Mike, gave a beautiful eulogy (including chanting) that was truly moving.
There were famous musicians who came and performed, gratis, for their love of Evan. The incomparable Billy Branch was there doing his magic on his harp accompanied by Carlos Johnson who was wonderful on guitar and vocals.
Tommy McCracken and his group, Force of Habit, ( http://www.tommy-mccracken.com) were there performing several blues songs along with a moving rendition of Amazing Grace. The crowd loved them and, if you ever have a chance to see them perform, don't miss them !!!!
Joey wrote lyrics and music to a song for Evan (Joey named "Best Friend Song") and performed it. I have uploaded it onto Evan's page. Please be patient while it loads...it's quite a large file.
Freddie supplied outrageously delicious pizza, Stephenie and Guy chipped in with hours of work on food, CD's and speaking at the Green Mill as well as unending support for Joey and Melissa.
Evan's father, Barrie, flew in from his home in France and Evan's brother, Zach, was there and addressed the packed house with his strength, class and humbleness as he expressed his being overwhelmed at the turnout of so many friends and the
work that Joey and Melissa had done in putting all of this together.
Thanks to Anthony (LTH Forum) and Amy for the HUGE amount of delicious middle eastern food they supplied.
One of the highlights of the program was the most amazing drum performance I've ever seen in my life done by Evan's friend Ted Sirota who is drummer for the band Sabertooth. Evan really loved that band and even studied drums under Ted.
Also a big thanks to Wally Lurz who produced the video DVD that closed this celebration.
Wally did an excellent job putting this together and editing all the different clips that he used not to mention his special effects. Great job, Wally !!!
There are many more people that need mentioning here and I will once I get the list from Joey.
This page will continue to be updated over the next week and then the information will be transferred to Evan's page on this site where it will stay perpetually.
