Beloved Aunt
Still missing you terribly...
Aunt Vi,
There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of you or cry that you're not here. I miss calling you every Sunday. I miss laughing with you. I miss hearing how much you cared about my Dad (your brother). He is still living at 94 and still cries for you, too.
I have to believe that I will see you again. I want you to be the one that comes for me. Please watch out for me and pray that my cancer will not return. Please pray for my Mom and Dad and pray for your son, Jackie. He is by himself and I worry about him. I will always love you, Aunt Vi. The space you had in my heart will never be filled until I see you again. Love, Pam

August 21st, 2009:
Jimmy and I just got back from a four day trip up to Virginia.
The trip back was a nightmare. FIVE hours at the airport in VA without anything to eat, a flight on a bucket of bolts to Charlotte, NC only to find out that our flight was cancelled to W. Palm Beach. Got on another flight to Ft. Lauderdale wondering if our luggage would show up somewhere in this country, didn't know how we would get to our vehicle that was parked at the Palm Beach airport some 45 miles away......it was all pretty terrible. Only good thing to happen was we sat next to a really terrific girl named Angie from the Miami area. We talked the entire flight and exchanged email's. We hired a van driven by a Russian that was transporting a bunch of Canadians to W. Palm Beach. We didn't care about language barriers (even though we were in OUR country)....we just wanted to get home any way we could and at any expense. We finally got home a little after 1am, safe and sound but so very tired. I talked to my Dad to let him know that we made it and I talked to Joey, too. All in all we probably could have taken a nice trip back to Europe for what this ended up costing us but, when all is said and done..........................
There's no place like home, Auntie Em !!!!!!!!!
I will be going to see the plastic surgeon again this Monday. More work may be necessary. Also will have my next appointment with the Oncologist on Sept. 8th.
Will post after seeing doctors !!
**********************************************************************************
I haven't posted in quite a while. Things here remain the same. I'm doing good, see the oncologist every three months and, so far, all is well.
We put a bamboo floor in our kitchen and have started some remodeling along with catching up on a TON of yard work that's been neglected since I got sick. Put in all stainless Electrolux appliances, remodled our laundry room and had all new landscaping done.
Jimmy and I have both QUIT SMOKING !!! As of April 1st we are smoke free and I have taken the money that we would spend weekly on cigarettes and put it in my change jar and it's really adding up in just a few weeks !! I'm loving it !!! So we are smelling things we couldn't smell before and tasting things we couldn't taste. Of course some things are not working out as well as I thought. For instance, I LOVED Fettuccine Alfredo but now without smoking I can really taste it and I think it's absolutely horrifying !!!!! I know..... pretty funny but true. Anyway glad we are beating this !!
So that's about it till next post. I hope it won't take me as long as this one did.

October 24, 2008:
Nick and I walked in the Breast Cancer Making Strides Walk yesterday. Here is a picture of me before the event started.
Yes....I had a hat on to cover my crew cut !! At least it's starting to grow back in !!
We walked around the lake (pictured behind me) and it poured rain on us !! There were so many people there. I couldn't get over how crowded it was. I'll be a part of this every year from now on !!

August, 2008:
I received one chemo treatment and could not tolerate another. I am on a pill once a day now and seem to be doing okay. I lost all my hair but it's slowly coming back. I had reconstruction surgery on August 18th. Everything went fine and I'm feeling great.

June, 2008:
As most of you know I discovered I had breast cancer in March. I am Stage 2 and will be receiving chemo withing the next couple of weeks. I've had the surgery (April 14th) and have started reconstruction. It really hasn't been too bad so far.
I will be having surgery today for the chemo port to be implanted. Chemo will start on June 10th.
I have written down all the things I've gone through but am not sure, yet, if I'll make it into a journal and publish it here.
I have all my doctors in place and they are all wonderful.
There are people that I really need to thank for their support this far:
My parents
My Husband and sons Joey and Nick
Joan and Hy
Domenick and Lisa
Glenn and Diane
Gayle Dillon
Fran Vitiello
My Carolynn
Dr. Reatha Williams (who saved my life !!!)
Dr. Juan Carlos Giachino
Dr. Nicholas Iannotti
Without these people and their constant support this would have been awful. I will forever be indebted to these people for standing by me during the darkest moment of my life.

December 19th, 2007:
I got a call from my son, Joey, the other night telling me he'd be on a business trip and have some free days at the end of the trip and would I meet him. Of course I said yes......now, Jan 9th, I'm on my way to Costa Rica !!!!
Of course while I'm there we will visit a private breeding and release facility for the Scarlet Macaw. I'm very excited about that. Joey also wants to see the volcano there and do the zip line !! Stay tuned for pics once I return...............
See the Costa Rica 2008 page.

July, 2007
We finished the remodel of our kitchen and master bathroom.....finally !! In the kitchen we had the ceiling raised. It was a horrible dropped ceiling that I've hated for the 14 years that we've lived here. Now I love it. It's bright, open, and gives a very spacious feeling. I had moveable recessed eyeball lights installed around the perimeter of the kitchen and a ceiling fan in the center. See below picture:
In the master bathroom I wanted waterfall faucets. Since there was a marble counter top that meant replacing the counter, getting new sinks and the faucets. Also painting the existing cabinets. Here is the old counter space with the marble:
Here is the new granite, vessel sinks and waterfall faucets:
HUGE difference !! We love it and did it for us since the market is still so bad that we will be staying here for a while until the market improves enough for us to get the right price for our home.

I had eye surgery on Dec. 18th, 2006. My vision is fully restored and, for the first time since kindergarten, I no longer need glasses !!! My distance vision is 20/20 and my near vision is 20/10 !! It's really a miracle to see like this.....something so many take for granted. I LOVE being able to see !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stay tuned...................................
Until the next update....................................
